Anna Ballasiotes

I am a graduate student at Oregon State University pursuing a masters degree in Geography. My focus within this program includes remote sensing, vulnerable populations, and participatory GIS. As a research team member of the Missing Millions project, I’m frequently engaging with OpenStreetMap data and working to illustrate the geography of exclusion of refugees and vulnerable populations from global population datasets.

My undergraduate experience at UNC-Chapel Hill allowed an interdisciplinary approach to water resources, conflict, and geospatial science, which I took to multiple experiences including a GIS internship at the Southern Environmental Law Center, a research position at the UNC Institute for the Environment, and a GIS Analyst position at AECOM.
